Diplomatic and Service Visa

NEW        Visa request for the purpose of POSTING , FIELD WORK , TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT, FAMILY VISIT for more than 30 days will require an authorization from Indonesia. The process can take up to  2- 3 weeks and  for Military or Field work posting it can take up to 30 – 40 days.

NEW      Please also allow 24 hours to complete the issuance of the visa once the authorization is received at the Embassy.


Submitting by hand : all supporting documents must be in an envelope.

Submitting by courier company: enclose a prepaid return envelope. Please do not submit your passport by Canada Post.


  1. Original Passport, the visa is only issued in a Passport valid for more than 6 months from the intended length of stay. Visa will not be issued to damaged passports.
  2. A Diplomatic Note must indicate the purpose of visit, length of stay and the name of the Indonesian Government.
  3. NEW      Military purpose of travel; please submit a letter of invitation  from the Indonesian Institute/Indonesian Military indicating the purpose of visit.
  4. NEW     RCMP/POLICE  purpose of travel; a letter  of invitation from the Indonesian National Police  is required.
  5. Visa Application  please complete the visa form in full by computer.
  6. 2 (two) recent photographs taken in the last 3 months, (passport format high gloss) See photograph specification
  7. Non-Canadian will need to provide a copy of their stay status in Canada.
  8. Copy of round trip flight ticket/itinerary (including departure from Canada)
  9. NEW    For posting mission, a tentative airline ticket is acceptable.

To avoid any inconveniences and delays with the visa request, please make sure that all documents are submitted accordingly to the above visa requirements and the visa application form is completed in full.

Other Information


Important Notice:

There are two regions in Indonesia: Poso, and Papua the applicant could not visit without special permission and approval. The Applicant who wishes to enter the restricted regions must obtain special authorization from Indonesian authorities. This rule also applies to those who work in these regions, e.g. Freeport employees. Visitors who enter these regions without permission are subject to arrest and detention and will be prosecuted according to Indonesian law.

When To Submit a Visa Request

To avoid any inconvenience, it is recommended for the applicant to submit the visa request no later than 7 (seven) days prior to departure and not more than 30 days prior to leaving Canada . To avoid any delay, please make sure that all supported documents are submitted. It is advisable to check with the Consular Services at the Embassy if you do not receive your returned passport within 10 (ten)days after submitting it to the Embassy.
