Transit Visa

Please note that Transit visa is no longer issued at the point of arrival in Indonesia.

Please read the following prior to sending your visa request.

Transit visa is given to foreign citizens who wish to stay no more then 14 (fourteen) days for the purpose of:

  • Transit on your way to another country and/or back to country of origin.
  • Join or work on a transport vehicle that will continue its journey outside Indonesian territory.

Also note that the visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue and your exit from Indonesia must be before that date.  Tourist visit for a short stay and cruise ship passengers must apply for a Visit Visa (single-entry).

To request a transit visa in Canada, submit your request to the Embassy, either in person or by Canada Post/Courier Company.

It is recommended to submit your visa request in the morning between 9:30 – 11:30.

The Consular Services will process you visa request within 3 working days, providing that all requirements are submitted accordingly. We do not accept additional fee to expedite a visa request.

Visa Requirements:

  1. Original passport must be submitted and be valid for more then 6 (six) months from the date of exit from Indonesia. (We do not accept damaged passport)

  2. visa application (F-004-2009-Eng) completed in full.

  3. 2 (two) recent photographs (passport format) . See our photograph specification information. Other photograph format will not be accepted. Do not fold/bend the photograph on the visa form.

  4. Copy of confirmed entry and exit airline ticket.

  5. Visa payment of $25.00 in the form of money order. Please read our form of payment information and current visa application fee.

  6. For Non-Canadian citizen, please provide a copy of your Canadian Immigration document. Please note that the Consular Servies may need to request a Letter of Recommendation from the Embassy in your country  of  origin. This process may take 2 – 3 weeks.


Submitting your visa request in person:

  • All supporting visa documents must be submitted in an envelope with the name of the applicant(s) with contact number. If the person dropping off the visa request(s) is not the applicant, please indicate your name with contact number. (If the applicant would like the passport returned by courier, please provide the Consular Services with one of the following envelope.

A return envelope:

  • by xpresspost Canada: please complete the address information with contact number. You need to keep the tracking number receipt.
  • by FedEx or Purolator : please complete the way-bill in full with account number.
  • If your visa request is urgent, we recommend you to enclose a FedEx or Purolator return envelop.

For citizens from countries that require authorization prior to issue the visa will need to request a Visit Visa.

Other Information

 

Important Notice:

There are two regions in Indonesia: Poso, and Papua the applicant could not visit without special permission and approval. The Applicant who wishes to enter the restricted regions must obtain special authorization from Indonesian authorities. This rule also applies to those who work in these regions, e.g. Freeport employees. Visitors who enter these regions without permission are subject to arrest and detention and will be prosecuted according to Indonesian law.

When To Submit a Visa Request

To avoid any inconvenience, it is recommended for the applicant to submit the visa request no later than 7 (seven) days prior to departure and not more than 30 days prior to leaving Canada . To avoid any delay, please make sure that all supported documents are submitted. It is advisable to check with the Consular Services at the Embassy if you do not receive your returned passport within 10 (ten)days after submitting it to the Embassy.
