Legalization of Marriage Book/Certificate Status

Legal Basis

Letter of The Director General of Islamic Guidance No: DJ II/PW. 01/303/2009, February 9, 2009, on Guidelines of Legalization of Marriage Book/Official Document of Status.

The Chief of District of the local office of Religious Affairs provides legalization after the couple is married and receives the Marriage Book.

The Legalization of the copy of the Marriage Book or Official Document of Status is not intended for use in a foreign country, such as: applying for a job, pension, credit agreement, etc. The legalization of the copy can be done by the Chief of District of the local office of Religious Affairs who issues the Marriage Book or by the Chief of District of the local office of Religious Affairs where the couple lives, or the official in charge of marriage at district, provincial or central levels.

For a couple who wants to go to a foreign country, the legalization of a copy of the Marriage Book and the Official Document of Status is completed by the Chief of District of the local office of Religious Affairs who issues the Marriage Book or the Chief of District of the local office of Religious Affairs where the couple lives and the official of The Ministry of Religious Affairs at the central level in charge of marriage matters, The Ministry of Law and Human Rights and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
