Foreign Citizen Getting Married in Indonesia

 

The marriage for a foreign citizen has to meet the following requirements:

  1. For Moslems, the marriage must be performed at a local office of Religious Affairs.
  2. For non-Moslems, the marriage is performed at the Civil Registration Agency (a marriage that can be registered is a marriage that is performed according to the Law of each religion (Article 2 Law No. 1/1974 on Marriage).
  3. You must obtain permission from the Embassy of Canada in Jakarta
  4. You must submit a Statement Letter stating your status (single, widower/widow, divorcee) signed and notarized.  If you have been married before, you must submit a copy of your marriage licence and/or proof of divorce. In Ontario, the letter can be obtained from the Office of the Registrar General, and is only valid for 3 (three) months.
  5. Your Birth Certificate.
  6. You must have a valid Passport
