Foreign Citizen Getting Married in Indonesia

The marriage for a foreign citizen has to meet the following requirements:

  1. For Moslems, it must be performed at a local office of Religious Affairs.
  2. For non-Moslems, the marriage is performed at the Civil Registration Agency (a marriage that can be registered is a marriage that is performed according to the Law of each religion (Article 2 Law No. 1/1974 on Marriage).
  3. Must have permission from the Embassy of Canada/Consulate in Indonesia.
  4. Must have a Statement Letter stating the status (single, widower, widow) and a Marriage License from the Local Municipal Office, for areas in Ontario, the letter can be obtained from the Office of the Registrar General, and only valid for 3 (three) months.
  5. Birth Certificate.
  6. Valid Passport
